Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy

Copyright and intellectual property policy

Last updated: November 1, 2026

Protreon Inc. (“Protreon”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects intellectual property rights and expects users to do the same. This policy (“Policy”) explains content ownership, infringement reporting, and related procedures for protreon.com and related Protreon services (“Services”).

This Policy supplements our Terms and Conditions, Community Guidelines, and Creator and Monetization Policy. Applicable law controls where it requires a different procedure or protection.

Ownership and permissions

You retain ownership of your original content, subject to the permissions granted in our Terms and Conditions. Publishing on Protreon does not transfer your copyright to us.

You must have the necessary rights to upload, distribute, display, perform, or monetize material through the Services. This includes rights covering photographs, music, recordings, video clips, artwork, writing, software, and contributions from others.

Giving credit, adding a disclaimer, purchasing a copy, or finding material online does not automatically authorize its use. Permission for personal use or free distribution may not include commercial use or paid membership access.

Do not remove copyright notices or rights-management information unlawfully, bypass access restrictions, or claim ownership of material you do not own.

Purchasing a membership or digital item ordinarily provides the access described in the offer. It does not transfer copyright or authorize redistribution, resale, public broadcasting, or sharing account access.

Creators may grant additional permissions in their offers, provided they have authority to do so. Any mandatory legal exceptions remain available.

Protreon may provide access controls, but we cannot guarantee that content will never be copied or redistributed without authorization.

Lawful exceptions

Some uses may be permitted without the owner’s permission under applicable law, including fair use, fair dealing, quotation, criticism, review, parody, or other exceptions.

Exceptions differ by jurisdiction and depend on the facts. There is no universal rule that a particular duration, percentage, disclaimer, or attribution makes a use lawful.

Before submitting an infringement notice, consider whether the disputed use is authorized by a license or applicable legal exception. Protreon’s moderation decisions do not replace a court’s determination of ownership or infringement.

A copyright owner or a person authorized to act for the owner of an exclusive right may submit a written infringement notice to our designated agent.

For a notice under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”), provide substantially the following:

  • A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized representative.
  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed, or a representative list where multiple works at a single online site are covered.
  • Identification of the allegedly infringing material to be removed or restricted, with information reasonably sufficient to locate it, such as specific URLs.
  • Contact information reasonably sufficient to reach you, including an address, telephone number, and email address if available.
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the exclusive right allegedly infringed.

Identify the specific material involved rather than linking only to an entire profile or homepage, unless that location adequately identifies the disputed material.

Do not provide passwords, payment credentials, or unrelated sensitive documents. We may request clarification when necessary to identify or assess a report.

How we handle notices

We review infringement notices and act expeditiously to remove or disable access to material identified in a sufficiently complete, valid DMCA notice where the applicable process requires it.

When appropriate, we request missing information. A report does not automatically establish that infringement occurred, and incomplete or unsupported allegations may not justify removal.

When material is removed under the DMCA process, we take reasonable steps to notify the affected user and explain the available counter-notice procedure.

Depending on the circumstances, access restrictions may affect particular posts, files, paid offers, or other relevant features. Related billing and payout issues are handled under the applicable payment policies and law.

Submitting a counter-notice

If your material was removed or disabled under the DMCA and you believe this resulted from mistake or misidentification, you may submit a written counter-notice to our designated agent.

A DMCA counter-notice must include substantially the following:

  • Your physical or electronic signature.
  • Identification of the removed or disabled material and its location before removal or restriction.
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled because of mistake or misidentification.
  • Your name, address, and telephone number.
  • A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the U.S. federal district court for the judicial district where your address is located or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which Protreon may be found.
  • A statement that you will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original infringement notice or that person’s agent.

Provide an email address so we can communicate with you about the counter-notice.

A counter-notice is a legal submission, not simply an ordinary moderation appeal. Consider seeking legal advice before submitting one. Do not use this procedure to contest a removal based solely on a separate Community Guidelines violation.

Counter-notice review and restoration

When we receive a valid DMCA counter-notice, we promptly provide a copy to the original reporting party and inform that party of the applicable restoration process.

Under the applicable DMCA process, we will restore the material no earlier than 10 and no later than 14 business days after receiving the counter-notice, unless our designated agent first receives notice that the reporting party has filed an action seeking a court order restraining the user’s allegedly infringing activity concerning that material.

Material may remain unavailable for an independent lawful reason, including a separate platform policy violation or applicable court order. Where appropriate, we will explain that separate basis.

Repeat infringement

We maintain and reasonably implement a policy for terminating repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.

We consider relevant notices, counter-notices, retractions, court decisions, and other reliable information. An unsupported accusation does not automatically establish infringement.

Serious violations may justify immediate restrictions. Do not create replacement accounts to evade enforcement or repeatedly upload material removed for infringement without a lawful basis.

We accommodate and do not interfere with standard technical measures as required by applicable provisions of the DMCA.

Trademark and impersonation reports

Trademark complaints are separate from DMCA copyright notices. To report suspected trademark infringement, contact us and provide:

  • Your name, contact details, and authority to act for the rights holder.
  • The trademark and relevant registration details, if registered, or an explanation of other claimed rights.
  • The countries or territories where protection is claimed.
  • Specific links identifying the disputed use.
  • An explanation of why the use is likely to confuse people about source, sponsorship, or affiliation.
  • Supporting information and a statement that the report is accurate and made in good faith.

Using a brand name to identify, discuss, criticize, or review a business does not automatically infringe a trademark. We consider the context and applicable law.

Impersonation may also violate our Community Guidelines even where a copyright or trademark claim is not established.

Misuse of reporting procedures

Do not submit knowingly false notices, claim rights you do not hold, conceal relevant permissions, or use reporting procedures to suppress lawful criticism or competition.

Knowing material misrepresentations in a DMCA notice or counter-notice may result in liability under applicable law, including damages and legal costs.

We may restrict abusive reporting activity while preserving legally required reporting channels and protections.

Information provided in reports

We use information submitted in reports to assess claims, communicate with affected parties, administer the applicable process, and meet legal obligations.

We may share the notice and relevant information with the affected user or their representative. A valid DMCA counter-notice is forwarded to the original reporting party as part of the statutory process.

Do not assume your submission will remain confidential. Use appropriate professional contact information where available, while providing the information legally required.

Our privacy policy explains additional information about our handling of personal information.

Infringement outside Protreon

If your content appears without authorization on another service, you or your authorized representative may need to contact that service or its hosting provider directly.

Protreon does not automatically act as your legal representative and cannot guarantee removal from services we do not control. We may provide relevant account or transaction assistance where appropriate and lawful.

If a Protreon account is being used to facilitate infringement elsewhere, report the relevant account and supporting information so we can assess any violation of our own rules.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in the Services, reporting procedures, or applicable law. We will revise the date and provide additional notice where required.

Changes do not remove statutory rights or alter mandatory procedures applicable to a notice or counter-notice.
