Nonconsensual Intimate Image Removal Policy

Nonconsensual intimate image removal policy

Last updated: November 1, 2026

Protreon Inc. (“Protreon”, “we”, “us” or “our”) prohibits sharing intimate images or videos without the depicted person’s consent. This policy (“Policy”) explains how to request removal from protreon.com and related Protreon services (“Services”).

This Policy covers reports involving real, altered, or digitally generated intimate imagery, including sexual deepfakes. Our platform rules may prohibit material even when a particular legal removal requirement does not apply.

This Policy supplements our Terms and Conditions and Community Guidelines. It does not limit protections available under applicable law.

Prohibited content

Do not publish, send, sell, solicit, or threaten to distribute intimate imagery without the depicted person’s consent.

Examples include:

  • Private intimate photographs or videos shared without permission.
  • Hidden-camera recordings involving nudity or sexual activity.
  • Intimate material obtained through hacking, coercion, deception, or unauthorized account access.
  • Sexual deepfakes or altered imagery depicting an identifiable person without consent.
  • Links or offers intended to distribute prohibited intimate material.

These restrictions apply to public posts, messages, groups, pages, livestreams, paid content, and creator memberships.

Not every policy violation necessarily meets a statutory definition. We may remove material under our platform rules independently of a legal removal request.

Consent to create an image, send it privately, or share it with a particular person does not automatically authorize wider publication.

A past relationship, payment, public profile, or occupation does not establish permission to distribute someone’s intimate imagery.

Consent must relate to the relevant use. Do not assume permission to repost merely because material has appeared elsewhere.

Who can request removal?

A person identifiable in the material may request removal. An authorized representative may submit a request on that person’s behalf.

You do not need to own the copyright, maintain a Protreon account, pay a fee, or contact the uploader before submitting a request under this process.

Other people may report suspected exploitation or a Community Guidelines violation even if they are not authorized representatives. Such reports may require a different review process.

How to request removal

Submit your request through either of these channels:

The suggested subject line helps route your request. It is not an additional condition for a legally valid request.

Provide links or enough location information to identify the material. Do not attach or redistribute the intimate image or video when its location is sufficient.

Information to include

To submit a removal request under the U.S. TAKE IT DOWN Act, include:

  • Signature: Your physical or electronic signature, or the signature of your authorized representative.
  • Identification and location: Information reasonably sufficient to identify and locate the intimate material, such as a post URL, account name, message location, or content identifier.
  • Good-faith statement: A brief statement that you have a good-faith belief the identified intimate depiction was published without consent, including relevant information that assists our review.
  • Contact information: Information sufficient for us to contact you or your authorized representative.

If a representative submits the request, identify that relationship and confirm authorization to act for the depicted person.

You may use the following statement and supply the relevant details:

“I am the person depicted, or an authorized representative acting on their behalf. I have a good-faith belief that the intimate material identified in this request was published without the depicted person’s consent. The material can be located at: [LOCATION]. Relevant information: [DETAILS]. Please contact me at: [CONTACT INFORMATION]. Electronic signature: [NAME].”

A police report, court order, copyright registration, or notarized statement is not required merely to submit this request.

If you cannot provide a direct link, explain where and when you encountered the material so we can assess whether the information is sufficient to locate it.

Review and removal

We review requests promptly. Where the U.S. TAKE IT DOWN Act applies, we remove covered material as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours after receiving a valid removal request.

The deadline runs from receipt of a valid request, not from when a staff member opens it. Weekends and holidays do not convert the deadline into business hours.

Within the same period, we make reasonable efforts to identify and remove known identical copies from the Services as required by the Act.

If essential information is missing, we will seek clarification where possible. We will not request unnecessary information or use clarification to delay action on a request that is already valid.

We may restrict access while reviewing a report and may remove material under our Community Guidelines even when a statutory removal provision does not apply.

We do not require you to confront the uploader or prove a criminal offense before we assess a removal request.

Identical copies and reuploads

Include any additional locations you already know about, but you are not responsible for finding every copy before requesting removal.

We undertake the identification and removal efforts required by applicable law. We cannot guarantee detection of every altered version or future upload.

If material reappears, report its new location and reference any earlier request number. Altering an image, changing accounts, or moving it into a private or paid area does not make prohibited distribution acceptable.

Content involving children

Child sexual abuse material, grooming, and sexual exploitation of minors are strictly prohibited.

Anyone may report suspected child sexual exploitation. Do not download, forward, or attach suspected child sexual abuse material to a report. Provide its location and relevant non-explicit details instead.

We take appropriate safety action and make reports to the relevant authorities or reporting bodies when legally required.

Where a parent, guardian, or other authorized person requests removal for a child, we handle the request according to applicable law and the child’s safety needs.

Threats and extortion

Threatening to publish intimate material to obtain money, sexual content, contact, or another benefit violates our rules, even if the threatened publication has not occurred.

Report the threatening account, relevant message locations, and any related content links. Preserve available non-explicit evidence where safe to do so.

You do not need to pay the person making the threat or continue interacting with them to use Protreon’s reporting process.

Privacy and report information

We use information in your request to assess the report, locate material, communicate with you, protect users, and meet legal obligations.

Access is limited to people and providers who need the information for appropriate purposes. We do not routinely forward your complete removal request or personal contact details to the uploader.

We may provide information where legally required or otherwise lawfully necessary. Absolute confidentiality cannot be guaranteed.

Do not submit passwords, complete payment details, or unrelated identity documents. If limited additional verification is genuinely necessary, we will explain the request and provide an appropriate submission method.

Removal from user access does not necessarily require immediate destruction of records that must be preserved for a lawful investigation or other legal obligation. Retained information remains subject to appropriate restrictions and our privacy policy.

Enforcement and review

Depending on severity and context, we may remove content, restrict features, disable monetization, suspend accounts, or terminate accounts. Serious exploitation may result in immediate action.

Retaliation against someone for making a good-faith report is prohibited. Knowingly false or abusive reports may also result in appropriate action.

If you believe a decision is incorrect, contact us with the relevant report or decision reference and supporting information. An appeal does not suspend a mandatory removal deadline.

A copyright counter-notice does not automatically require restoration of material independently prohibited as nonconsensual intimate imagery.

Content outside Protreon

This process addresses material hosted or made available through the Services. We cannot directly remove material from independent websites, search engines, or other platforms.

You may need to submit separate requests to those services. If a Protreon account directs people to prohibited material elsewhere, report the account and relevant links so we can assess its activity.

Further complaints and urgent help

If a covered platform does not provide the required process or fails to act on a valid request within the applicable deadline, you may report the concern to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission at TakeItDown.ftc.gov.

That FTC website receives complaints about platform compliance; it does not replace sending the initial removal request to the platform hosting the material.

You may also have rights to contact law enforcement, a regulator, or a qualified legal adviser. Contacting Protreon does not waive those rights.

If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Our reporting channels are not an emergency response service.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in the Services, reporting procedures, or applicable law. We will revise the date and provide additional notice where required.

Changes do not remove mandatory protections or extend a statutory removal deadline.
